There’s no easy answer for who I am, especially when, at 45, I’m still trying to figure that out.
I’m a dad. I’m a coach. I’m an educator. I’m a warrior. I’m a poet. I am a truth seeker. I am a voice for those that need one.
I’m an artist. I am a writer. I’m a journalist. And a story teller. I am a marketer. I am a salesman. I am a creator. I am an outdoorsman. I am a leader. I am a neighbor and I am a friend.
And I am a Floridian, running for the first seat of the Hillsborough County Commission.
About Me
I was born in the same Southwest Florida hospital my mom was. I was raised on the beaches and ballfields, the museums and parks, of Southwest Florida. I was educated in our schools. I spent decades telling the stories of my communities. I spent a lifetime of following along with those stories.
I have weathered hurricanes and recessions here in our little slice of Florida. Environmental disasters and man-made negligence. Growth and expansions, and market corrections.
Sometimes, at the most basic levels of our democracy, we lose sight of giving a voice to the people and places who may get washed away in the tides. And, that is why I am running for county commission. For decades, Ive watched politicians make decisions that are anathema to what actual Floridians want, and need.
So Im running for public office. Not because I can break the cycle politically but because I can be loud and Because there are voices that need to be a part of the conversation. I won’t make a lot of promises because politicians don’t seem to ever keep their promises.
What I stand for
So, I will keep my stands simple.
- I will view and legislate from the notion that we are stewards of our environment. We owe it to every person that comes after us that we leave them a world worth taking care of.
- Never grow beyond our means. Development should never mean moving faster than the land can take. Sustainable infrastructure needs to be the priority.
- The people that make this Florida, get first priority. Teachers, first responders, Small business owners, service workers, fishing captains and nurses, retail associates, waitresses, ride operators, all the people that make this paradise possible. I see you.
- If it can hurt the water in any way, I am a hard no.
- I will listen to everyone’s stories.
- WE are gonna do everything we can to keep it Florida, Man!
So please follow us and join the cause. In the coming weeks, we will have updates.
